<p>Sri Lanka took a significant step towards adopting a new constitution for the island nation. A resolution submitted by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe seeking parliamentary approval for the appointment of a constitutional assembly was adopted unanimously on March 10, 2016.</p>
